“A majority of Americans (56%) believe that government
is trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and
businesses, while 39% hold the view that government should do more to solve the
nation's problems. Responses to this question have been quite fluid over the
two decades in which Gallup has asked the question. In October 2001, in the
aftermath of 9/11, 50% said government should do more to solve the country's
problems -- the highest in Gallup's history of asking the question. Sentiment
that government should do more was lowest in the 1995-1998 time frame, when
only about a third held this view and about 6 in 10 said government was doing
too much.”
This quote from the article demonstrates what the article
was mainly about. The article basically summarizes the Gallup survey based on
telephone interviews that took place on September 8-11, 2011 with a random
sample of 1,017 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the
District of Columbia. This survey was taken to understand how citizens of USA
feel about the US Government.
According to the Survey majority of the citizens feel
that the government has too much power and some feel that the government has prefect
amount of power and it is their job to look after every aspect of their
country. It seems like as years are by passing, people are stating that government
is gaining too much power according to previous record and the recent survey
data,
I believe the government is becoming to powerful. They can dictate what schools we can go to, where we live, they decide what we deserve based on whats on paper. I think the government should be broken down into even smaller systems. I believe the government is to broad of a power and bases everything of "majority" even though that doesn't always apply to everyone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and most of the time government doesn't know how to use that power to help the citizens.
